I answered “too long” but maybe that just means I am too busy or subscribe to too many other newsletters. It is in no way a criticism. I enjoy your writing but often set it aside for a few days so that I can truly appreciate it with a cup of tea and a few moments to reflect. How you manage to produce an elegant, intelligent and beautifully written newsletter on the regular with such young children always amazes me!
I don’t understand the difference between continue as full subscriber and no change. I’m here for it ALL! Don’t know how you do it. I prefer not lessening content. I practically hang on every word. They are delicious to my mind and soul! You are so practical while also so in depth at wisdom. Truthfully, I really don’t know how to put into words the effect your writing has in me. Just please keep going. Maybe it’s just that after everything I read I end up thinking, wow, I’m really going to be ok. And make it! No matter what my daily burdens are! That I thirst for more God and Jesus from reading your words! I’m pretty sure that is your purpose for this devotion to your writing. Leading people to the Trinity. You DO! And I love you for this MOST OF ALL!
I answered "too long" only because I would still really value your writing even if it weren't so long. And as much as I enjoy your newsletter, it's often difficult for me to find the time to read all of it.
The questions are my absolute favorite and I hang on every word! In a different season, I would like to read the encyclicals and follow along better, but can’t make the time right now. I really enjoy the long form essays also but tend to skim a bit more depending on the day. But you write beautifully and I truly enjoy it all! I answered “too long” only because I have 3 little kids under age 4 (also work as a birth doula) and it takes me several sittings to get through one email, but this is my favorite blog of which I subscribe. I will make the time eventually, maybe in a nice bath! Will keep subscribing either way :)
I would prefer more questions and shorter essay versus long essay and less questions. You are able to address more topics that way, and they are often very interesting! I'll keep my subscription regardless, but that's my perspective. I have greatly appreciated some of your longer essays, but wouldn't worry about doing them too often. I am never really sure what I'm seeing uniquely as a full subscriber, versus free subscribers, especially when you open some posts up to everyone. So I really am not entirely positive what is unique to subscribers, but am happy to support your work.
The third question is closed, while the other two are still open. I would continue my subscription, even if you needed to answer fewer questions to stay sane. But I do love the questions! I have been a convert for ten years, but also have had five more babies in that time and haven’t been able to read nearly as much as I would like. You give wonderful, deep but concise, explanations to so many aspects of the faith that I haven’t been able to explore.
This newsletter is definitely a highlight of Substack for me, but you gotta stay sane!! I will be here no matter what to read whatever you write :)

I couldn’t have said it better! The newsletters are wonderful, I just have to wait to find the time to read them with my full attention.

This newsletter is a highlight of my week! And since tonight is movie night for my husband and me, I think we’re going to check out “Pinball”!
