This is a profoundly beautiful poem. It reminds me a bit of Father Hopkins' lines:
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
World broods with warm breast and with ah! bright wings.
In both, there is a sense of loving envelopment by God of us poor banished children of Eve, and this is a great comfort and hope indeed! Come, Lord Jesus! (And thank you, Emily!)
I love this!! I have been feeling strongly pulled to an Advent and Christmas of simplicity and peace this year too. Looking forward to Advent even more now! (And as a fellow mom of young children I know this is a bigger commitment than it might appear on the outside. Thank you!)
It amazes me that you can do this, despite all your other obligations! (I have trouble getting ONE thing accomplished per day.)Thank you for sharing your God-given gifts with us!
I’m so excited. I love Christmas poetry! I think I always get more spiritual fruits from perusing poetry books while preparing our family cards than I ever have with longer daily meditations. Looking forward to it!
Emily, you are so gifted. This sounds perfect. Short, sweet, to the point, keeping us grounded during the bustle of the season. Thank you.
