“Don’t be scrupulous or foolish. But do find some small way to still enter into Lent. Even if you’re exempt from the stricter fasting requirements, Lent still matters. It’s good for your soul and your relationship with Christ.”
For mom's looking at how to do lent with littles. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd has a podcast and have lots of ideas for small children. https://www.cgsusa.org/episode-136/
I realise this is a somewhat nebulous question, but I have always wondered what constitutes a serious medical reason for not fasting? I have been either pregnant or breast-feeding for the last seven Lents, and I'm currently pregnant and, God willing, will be breastfeeding next year, but before my first child, every time I fasted on Ash Wednesday or Good Friday, it would induce a terrible migraine (to which I'm prone, and one of the main triggers is not eating enough), which would incapacitate me for a few days. It's certainly not life threatening, but I'm thinking ahead to a few years from now when my kids will still be young and there will be no taking a three day break- would a migraine be sufficient reason to not fast?
The answers were so wonderful; I sent it to my Protestant mom who often has a lot of questions about fasting. But oh man- the recipe!! Incredible! I made it for date night, and it was so tasty and easy. I wish I could review this somewhere. Any chance of getting one of the other 2 recipes mentioned to use the rest of the sauce? Are they in The Catholic Table?

Loved this part! It really stood out to me.
